An introduction to what this is all about!

This started back in 2002 when I must be 13 years of age. My mother had great difficulty putting her affection in words for her brothers during special occasions like Raksha Bandhan and Diwali. A practiced observer since an early age, I understood relationships well and never found it difficult expressing them in words. I always knew I can make people feel special. And so, from writing letters for my parents to later penning down the feelings of random friends for their lovers in college, I became a sought after “letter writer cum agony aunt". That’s the power of letters! The letters had the exact feelings these people had, only expressed more strongly and simply. I still remember how I wrote the most honest break-up letter for a girl, who was in a moral dilemma whether to quit on the guy she liked but did not really love. Many years after, my passion for letter writing still stays. Refer to Xenos Letter Association on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/xenospenfriends) . Through this page, I made people of all ages and professions write letters to each other anonymously. The idea was simple – travelling to a different world through a stranger’s experiences with the help of letters. To my surprise, I got a pretty excited lot comprising of artists, housewives, children, doctors and even a cancer survivor. With so many networking sites, we stand super exposed (not that we have any qualms about it). But even then, many things remain unsaid – an unfinished task, secret insecurities, dreams unshared or maybe random stupid stuff, that people around might judge you otherwise for. My members found happiness in finding those four letters each week for a month from a complete stranger and opening up to themselves in ways they had never expected. I now expand my idea to writing personalised letters for anybody and everybody, for the simplest or the most drastic confessions, occasions and experiences. All you need to do is write in to me on vij.varalika@gmail.com and the rest shall follow. Happy writing! Varalika
